Ken Ofori-Atta Undergoes Successful Cancer Surgery in the U.S. — Wife Confirms

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has undergone a successful prostate cancer surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, according to a statement from his wife, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta.

In the statement dated June 16, 2023, Prof. Ofori-Atta revealed that the surgery — a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy — was carried out on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she stated, referring to the recent public notice by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Despite the emotional strain, she noted that Mr. Ofori-Atta is recovering steadily and remains focused on regaining his health.

“Our family is truly grateful for the support and prayers of many people and pastors,” she added.

Doctors are reportedly satisfied with the outcome of the procedure and have placed him on a postoperative recovery plan.

Mr. Ofori-Atta is currently under investigation by the OSP for alleged corruption and procurement irregularities during his time as Minister for Finance.
